Loved The Presenter, Katie and the way she was able to convey the information via body language, tone and inflection!

The way the work environment mirrored unhealthy family dynamics was a new way of understanding and made me really look back and analyze certain decisions and ways I have handled things in the past.

Very dynamic personality that is informative without being overwhelming. I lead a support group for staff working with people w/SUDs and so many of their organizations are not trauma-informed. Listening to all these examples, she was able to put words to the exact experience I had working in a methadone clinic. It was like she knew my story! I cant wait to share some of what I learned here with my group.

  • Michaela

I really enjoyed the presenter's style and knowledge. It was easy to stay engaged.

Katie Fries is an engaging, informative speaker. She provides many different real-life examples to enhance understanding. I always enjoy her Continued courses.

I thought the presenter and the course were outstanding and I hope she will present more courses!!!

This was an amazing presentation. The content was presented clearly and the examples were excellent. I appreciated the thorough explanations. This was highly accessible, and I am not a clinical social worker. I appreciate the explanation of terms and the fact that the presenter did not use acronyms or abbreviations. I loved this, and felt this was so incredibly accurate. Everything resonated with me and helps me understand more about myself since I grew up with emotional neglect.

  • Michelle

The course was thorough and enlightening, and it broadened my concept of what emotional neglect is.

Very well organized and presented. Explanations with multiple examples were particularly helpful. Presenter had a very easygoing manner and was easy to listen to.

  • Margrit

The content was well defined and broken down to be understandable. Katie obviously is passionate and well versed in the topic which was presented with much energy. Timely material that can be put to use immediately.

Great presenter! Good examples and explanation of concepts. It is easy to see that she is passionate and knowledgeable about the topic. Lots of great tips that can be implemented!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the invaluable information provided during this training session. The information will assist me in both my professional and personal life as someone who has recently embarked on the therapeutic process. The question regarding when to involve CPS as it pertains to emotional neglect was insightful.

  • Courtney

This was the best course so far!!!! By far!!!!! It needed to be much longer but hopefully this is the way of being in the room with a human that all clinicians learn sooner rather than later! This to me as someone who has been a therapist for many years and am a therapist because of the amazing therapists (and a few really horrible ones) who have helped me in my healing. She incorporates IFS, polyvagal, attachment etc. Well done!!!

I've done 50 or so of these CEUs and this was my favorite hands down. She was very informative without dumbing it down, if that makes any sense. I really enjoyed this one.

I absolutely love this topic. As I advance in my social work career I started to explore more about emotional neglect and gaslighting. I wish that there was more emphasis on emotional abuse, neglect and gaslighting in social work curriculum. I think parenting has taken a dramatic shift in the other direction from 80s/90s parenting styles and am interested in what trends will look like in 30 years. I find Katie to be easy to listen to as she is passionate about working with children/families.

This course described effective and relevant themes that facilitate positive change in the school environment. Thank you for your presentation and for connecting the dots so that faculty and staff and overcome barriers by identifying personal tendencies and gaining self awareness.

  • Amber

I appreciated the instructors passionate knowledge on this topic along with multiple situational examples. I feel this course empowered me with easy to use and realistic strategies for helping students with emotional regulation and safety.

  • Ann

The instructor is clearly knowledgeable on the topic and possesses a gut level feel for what she is teaching. She fleshes it out with concrete examples and does not denigrate those who do not use or know of this approach.

  • Ashley

Katie Fries is always excellent. So much useful info poured into one hour. I really appreciate her easy reference to so many other minds in the field. It makes me feel that she is well-informed and also up to date.

  • Deena

There are not enough good things i can say about this course and the wonderful Katie Fries. She was so engaging and relatable. Her explanations of regulation and how it affects the students as well as the adults, with many examples throughout the course, gave me tools that i now have on the tips of my fingers. Just this morning i had a meeting with classroom staff of a kid throwing furniture and breaking things. We talked about it from a behavioral perspective, but now that's going to change.

  • Debbie

Katie did an excellent job through use of an example that provided practical application as she embarked on theory. Her energy promoted connection. As someone with many years of experience in school settings, I can attest to the tremendous value of the tips offered. Highly recommend this one.

This course was amazing. It's sometimes difficult to find empathy to work with difficult parents and the presenter helped to put the thought behind why parents/clients behave in the way that they do. I enjoyed this class immensely and would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling with noncompliant and combative clients.

  • Emma

This is a great course and I would highly recommend anyone working with family systems take the time to take the course. This instructor is very through and is excellent at teaching the subject manner.

  • Kathryn

I've worked with children and their parents for a couple years now, and while I've done my own work in self-reflection and using similar strategies that Katie discussed in her presention, she just does such an amazing job at explaining these strategies and providing ways to speak with challenging parents. I wrote down several resources she mentioned that I intend to use.

  • Karen

I am impressed with how clear and how organized this presenter was. She was able to put a lot of important information into a small amount of time, and yet it was clearly stated. I found this to be very helpful.

  • Catherine

Katie is an excellent presenter and the material she covered not only offers a refresher, but also some helpful strategies for working with parents in a very difficult profession. I took notes and will apply her strategies to other individuals I work with in the social work field. Really great training
